Sudden rain hassles outbound travellers

Last Updated 29 April 2017, 21:19 IST

The sudden rainfall on Friday night inconvenienced many people heading out of town on a long weekend. While some parts of the city received rainfall after 9 pm, other localities were greeted with strong winds.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain coupled with thundershowers for the next two days. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) said there were no rain-related complaints.

The rainfall, however, led to power cuts in Banaswadi, Magadi Road and parts of Bannerghatta Road.
Pedestrians on roads being upgraded under the TenderSURE project were the worst sufferers. Outbound travellers were seen running to escape the rainfall in Majestic, KR Market and other bus terminals.

Basaveshwaranagar received 1 mm rainfall while Singanayakanahalli and Kengeri received 18 mm till 10.30 pm, according to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre.
