The High Court of Karnataka on Wednesday dismissed the appeal filed by former vice chancellor of Alliance University Madhukar Angur challenging the injunction order prohibiting his entry into the university campus.

Justice Raghavendra S Chauhan, who heard a batch of petitions filed by the Angur family at length, passed an order rejecting Madhukar Angur’s contentions.

Madhukar Angur is locked in a dispute with his family members including Shaila Chebbi Govind, Mala Madikeri Srinivas Gowda, Abhay Govind Chebbi, Prakash Budoor, Sudhir Angur and Govind Chebbi. The dispute relates to share transfers and the ownership of the university.

The judge, in his order, said the real fight is between two brothers over the management of the university, but the real victims of this fight are the students, faculty and staff of the university. “It is they who are caught in the cross fire.” There are apparently 7,000-odd students in the university located in Anekal. Justice Chauhan referred the family dispute back to the lower court directing that the civil suit be decided within six months. The judge directed the lower court to hold day-to-day hearing of the case and also directed the parties in the case to cooperate to bring the dispute to a speedy end.
