Trees at Yamare-Sarjapur Circle translocated

Last Updated 15 May 2017, 02:54 IST
Members of Sarjapur Residents’ Welfare Association (SRWA) and volunteers completed translocation of three trees in their locality on Sunday. Several trees had to be felled for the road-widening work on Dommasandra-Sarjapur Circle which was being implemented by the Public Works Department. It was then that the SRWA members and the volunteers decided to shift four trees located at Yamare-Sarjapur Circle.

Three trees shifted
“By Sunday evening three trees were translocated and the fourth one will be completed by early Monday morning. The trees have been shifted to the premises of Inventure Academy at Doddabommasandra. We have signed a memorandum with the Academy for maintaining these trees and will be training the staff on how to take care of them,” said Joy V R, an SRWA member.

The translocation of the fourth tree, which will be relocated at a villa in Sarjapur, was delayed as one of the cranes was under repair. While two trees are 50 years old, two others are 10 years old, the members said.

The members of the Sarjapur Residents’ Welfare Association, along with Jayam Landscape, which is the tree translocating company, have been carrying out various tasks, including excavation, digging of pits, pruning of branches, etc, for the last couple of days.
