<div align="justify">The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) will inspect Namma Metro’s Sampige Road-Yelachenahalli line on May 24 and if all goes well, the government will open it for public in the first week of June, Bengaluru Development Minister K J George said on Wednesday. He said the completion of the stretch on North-South corridor will operationalise the entire Phase 1 and the ridership is expected to go up to five lakh per day. <br /><br />“Traffic is a major problem for Bengaluru and we need a multi-pronged approach. We believe that experience will help the officials finish Metro Phase 2 fast. We are also looking at pod taxi,” he said. George said Bengaluru will see major changes in the next five months. <br /><br />“We have already finalised the Nagawara-Hegde Nagar-Jakkur-Yelahanka route for the Metro line to the airport under Phase 2B. Two alternative roads to the airport will also be opened in the near future. We are planning tunnels to decongest traffic at some places,” he said.<br /><br />Biocon to adopt station<br />Biocon chairperson and managing director Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw said the company would adopt the Hebbagodi Metro station on the RV Road-Bommasandra line (Phase 2, Reach-5). <br /><br />Earlier, George and Kiran unveiled an artwork by artist, the late Yusuf Arakkal, at the MG Road boulevard. “This artwork themed - Science and Technology Takes Off - symbolises the pride of Bengaluru. More corporates should turn patrons of public projects for the betterment of the city,” Shaw said.<br /><br />George said Infosys and Wipro had already expressed interest in adopting Metro stations. “We hope Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw will inspire more companies to participate in projects,” he said.<br /></div>
