Over hundred feared dead due to heatwave inTelugu states this summer so far

The unprecedented heatwave conditions prevailing all over the two Telugu states have claimed the lives of over 101 people during the past few days as per reports from districts. Temperatures unknown to cooler districts in coastal Andhra and its delta region has baffled the revenue administration which was not ready to deal with such a steep spike in temperatures.

According to reports reaching here out of the 87 that died in Andhra Pradesh 15 people died in Prakasam, 15 in Guntur, 13 in Nellore, 10 in East Godavari, 9 in West Godavari,  8 in Chittoor 5 in Krishna, 4 in Visakhapatnam, 3 in Srikakakulam and 1 in Vizianagarm   due to heat stroke so far. However the state Disaster Management department has not confirmed whether all the deaths resulted due to the heat wave conditions.

In Telangana 12 people died during the past 48 hours. According to reports from districts, two agricultural labourers in Khammam died due to sunstroke. Ramavath Nagaraju a young Tribal Agriculture Extension Officer died in Suryapet district on Thursday. In Medak district over 87 people were admitted to the government hospitals with heatstroke symptoms.

According to the state Disaster Management Krishna district headquarters Machilipatnam recorded the highest in both the state with 47.3 degrees centigrade followed by another coastal town Bapatla 46.8, Vijayawada 46.6, Kavali in Nellore district 45.3 and Narsapur on the banks of Godavari touching 45 degrees on Thursday.

On Friday also temperatures in Andhra Pradesh turned the state into a hot furnace. Tiruvuru and Kanchikacharla in Krishna district and Kollipara and Pedakakani in Guntur recorded the highest at 47.65 degrees centigrade. Nandigama recorded 45, Vijayawada 44 and Tirupati with 41 were the other hottest places in the state. In Telangana Hyderabad, Nalgonda and Karimnagar recorded 43.
