Plaint against 8 MLCs over fake bills

Last Updated 20 May 2017, 18:14 IST

Opposition BJP leader in the BBMP Padmanabha Reddy has complained to the chairman of the Legislative Council D H Shankaramurthy against eight MLCs, accusing them of claiming false travel bills.

He urged Shankaramurthy to initiate criminal action against Congress MLCs S Ravi, N S Bosaraju, Appaji Gowda, C R Manohar, M D Lakshminarayana, Raghu Achar, Allam Veerabhadrappa and Ramappa Thimmapura. All these MLCs had voted in the BBMP mayoral elections claiming that they are residents of Bengaluru.

Since they claimed that they reside in BBMP limits, the eight were not entitled to any travel allowance (TA) when they attended meetings of the Legislative Council.

“Even after registering themselves as residents of Bengaluru, these MLCs stated that they were residing in various towns in the state and claimed travel allowances. This way, they misused government funds,” said Reddy.

He asked Shankaramurthy to take criminal action and disqualify the eight members from the Upper House.
