Ever since Hrishikesh Chury made his entry into Bollywood, he has been giving his fans a chance to shake a leg. And quite literally so!

Following his superhit song ‘Taang Uthake’ from ‘Housefull 3’, the singer has come a long way with many more exciting songs and live shows worldwide.

Now, he will be seen as part of the grand jury in the upcoming episodes of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs’ on Zee TV. In a tete-e-tete with Anila Kurian, Hrishikesh turns candid about what motivates him each day.

Tell us about your big break in Bollywood.
I’ve been singing since I was in school. I started working towards making an entry into Bollywood since 2011. I did a lot of shows and recorded many songs which never saw the light of the day. It was finally in 2016 that my work was recognised.

Your biggest struggle to make a name...
Everyone has a different journey and mine also has its own story. I never gave up on my dreams. I was always on the look out for new opportunities. I knew that I shouldn’t lose hope and need to be patient.

Your inspiration to work hard...
I believe that if you have the passion or a target to achieve, you will get there one day. Even today, I work as hard as I did before I was recognised and want to continue doing just that.

Do you miss your privacy?
To be honest, it’s mostly actors who don’t get their privacy. As a singer, I can still go out on the streets, enjoy ‘vada pav’ and take a walk. So that’s alright with me.

Do you have any plans of acting in the future?
I haven’t given it much thought but it would mostly be a ‘no’. All I want to do right now is sing and get better at it. I know that I have a long way to go before I reach my target and singing is the way to get there.

Something you’re terrible at...
I’m very bad at saying ‘no’ to people. Sometimes it gets me into trouble.

The last song you listened to...
‘Baarish’ from ‘Half Girlfriend’.

A song you’re embarrassed to have on your playlist...
I actually don’t have any songs on my phone. I usually just listen to the radio.

Something you can never say ‘no’ to...
Chocolates and sweet items. I’ll have to workout a little extra after that though, but I’m okay with that.

Something you love to eat but can’t...
I love ‘pani puri’ and other ‘chaats’. I can’t eat too much of that because of my throat.

Are you excited about being a part of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs’?
Oh, yes! It’s very exciting to be a part of such a project. They are a talented bunch of kids with great voices.
