A research undertaken by a noteworthy university in Haryana has revealed that beef has no medicinal qualities. Instead, the research states that cow urine has charismatic value. The research is an outcome of samples of beef tested by researchers at the Lala Lajpat Rai university of veterinary and animal sciences in Hisar. The report was forwarded to the government last week.

The finding of the research have come to light amid several biryani shops in Muslim dominated Mewat region of Haryana closing down for fear of a backlash or police crackdown. Official reports had certified the presence of beef in biryani’s that were served by many eateries in the area.

The beef samples were put to test by the veterinary public health wing of the university on an application moved by Naresh Kadian, who is a master trainer of the Animal Welfare Board of India.

Kadian initially had asked the government whether beef had any medicinal value. His motive behind the exercise was to dissuade beef eaters with scientific facts that he felt may impact the choice of food people eat. The research at the university was carried out under the supervision of Dr V Singh. In wake of the findings of the research, Kaidian has sought to strictly implement laws that prohibit beef.

He has also sought an action against traders who has served beef in Biryani in Mewat. The government has sought legal opinion on the matter. Beef is banned in Haryana. Cow slaughter and smuggling invites a punishment of up to 10-years besides a heavy fine.
