KEA faces students' ire

Last Updated 24 May 2017, 19:27 IST

Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) faced the ire of students after it made an error in the allotment of  postgraduate medical and dental seats in the second round of common counselling.

KEA issued a notice on Monday cancelling the initial allotment made on May 20 saying it had not calculated reservation for candidates from Hyderabad-Karnataka. A notification on KEA’s website read, “This was done to fulfil a Constitutional obligation wherein during the allotment on 20th May 2017, Hyderabad-Karnataka reservation was not considered for allotment due to a technical error.”

Several candidates, who were allotted a seat in the first list, lost them in the reallotment because of the reservation. Other candidates were disappointed as they did not get the college or course of their choice in the reallotment.

KEA will shortly release the schedule for the mop-up round of offline seat allotment to be held on May 28 and 29. Only candidates who have not been allotted any seats in any round are eligible to participate in this round.

Candidates should have previously registered and verified their documents to be eligible and they have to re-register themselves on the website by May 25. They have been told to carry all original documents and a DD.
