Former corporator V Nagaraj and his sons Gandhi and Shastri were on Thursday remanded in judicial custody till June 7.

The three were produced before the 11th ACMM court in Mayo Hall as their police custody expired on Thursday.

The Srirampuram police requested the court to remand the trio in police custody for some more days as they need to interrogate them in criminal cases. The judge did not agree and remanded the trio in judicial custody.

The judge directed the police to seek their custody after 14 days. The three had gone absconding after the police raided their house on April 14. They were detained in Tamil Nadu by the police. The three are reportedly involved in a money-laundering case.

During the interrogation, Nagaraj claimed that a senior officer working with the RBI assisted him in exchanging demonetised notes that belonged to senior officers and politicians. He told the police that he wanted to make

Rs 60 crore for political purposes by way of exchanging notes. Nagaraj used provisions given to NRIs and collected 50% commission from January to exchange the notes in Tamil Nadu, police said.
