The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on Saturday recovered a box containing 400 live empty cartridges near a BSF border outpost near Khavda town in the border district of Kutch.

According to paramilitary officials, their men reported a metal box near dry nullah located about half a kilometre from BSF border outpost on the India-Pakistan international border. When the box was dug out, the officials are learnt to have found roughly 150 live and 200 empty cartridges in the box. The ammunition is said to be used in 7.2 mm INSAS rifles and 5.56 mm rifles generally used by BSF. However, the officials have ordered and enquiry into the findings.

“The ammunition appears to be over a decade old and rusty. It may have been swept away during high-tide into dry rivulet adjoining the camp of Indian Army. However, a complaint has now been filed with local police for further investigations,” a senior BSF official is stated to have said.
