Amid doubts galore, officials clear the air

Documents for different clauses, seat sharing and the conditions that come with different choices during the final stages of counselling seemed to have left many students and parents confused. But officials cleared the doubts, much to the relief of students.

When ComedK seat selection committee member Rama Rao said seat selection process will be streamlined once it goes online, Suresh Akkoli from Belagavi asked why the consortium’s web portal does not include Jains in the list of religious minorities. “We were forced to choose the option ‘not applicable’. Shouldn’t the ComedK application include Jains in the list,” he asked.

Rao said he will inform the consortium about the issue. “The ComedK board usually includes all minorities. Not all minority colleges are affiliated to ComedK. We will check this issue,” he said.

Karnataka Examination Authority public relations officer S Ravi answered several questions about the four choices available during the seat allotment and admission process.

Sindhura Bharadwaj wanted to know whether she should go for choice 1 or 2 when she has been allotted a college, but hopes for a better one. “Choice 2 allows you to hold on to the seat already allocated as well as wait for a better opportunity in the second round,” Ravi said.

Deepak asked whether the KEA would consider the marks obtained in the revaluation and alter the CET rank of a student. Ravi said the KEA gets the revised marks directly from the PU Board and updates the ranking of the students. “The new marks will be final. We will go with it regardless of whether the revised score is more or less than the original score,” he said.
