Abbas, Anand dazzle

Mir Kaunian Abbas struck a 100 while Anand D claimed a six-wicket haul as Bangalore Occasionals gained a first-innings lead and three points from their drawn game with Social Cricketers in the KSCA Group I, I Division league tournament for the Sir Mirza Ismail Shield here.

Batting first, Occasionals posted a competitive 281 all out in 85.1 overs with Abbas top-scoring with a patient 118 off 205 balls aided by 12 hits to the fence and one maximum.

For Social, there were no stand-out performances with the ball as KC Cariappa (2/62), Ritesh Bhatkal (2/61) and Prithviraj (2/64) shared the bulk of the wickets.

Rohan Kadam was the lone warrior in Social’s innings with a knock of 80 as he saw his side crumble to 100 all out in 46.2 overs.

Anand was the wrecker-in-chief for Occasionals returning figures of six for 28.
