Waste management in town has becoming an increase problem for the local people.

The garbage collection vehicle collects waste once a week and most residents have been dumping waste randomly. Also, a large part of the waste consists of plastic.

Waste generated from vegetable shops, grocery stores and hotels is dumped near the bus stand on C K Subbaiah Road. The Town Panchayat has been burning the waste collected, which has been polluting the environment. The rest of the garbage is dumped on the market premises, due to which the entire area is stinking.

Various organisations have been requesting the Town Panchayat to identify a place as a dumping yard. But, neither the elected representatives nor the officials have taken any interest in responding.

Human Rights Association taluk president P Madhu said unscientific management of waste like burning the waste may lead to serious health issues in people.

Town Panchayat chief officer P Nachappa said that identifying a land for waste management is on the pipeline. Public have been provided with bins to dispose dry and wet waste separately.
