In a culinary carnival

Quirky setting
Last Updated 02 June 2017, 21:33 IST
The first thing that strikes you is the cheerful ambience. ‘Mighty Small’ in Smaaash takes its fun very seriously with a loud and bright carnival-themed decor, striking view and comfy seats.

The menu is a combination of Continental, Chinese and desi delights. Whet your appetite with soups, appetizers or salads. In salads, the ‘Cheese cucumber boat salad’ is highly recommended for its unique blend of tastes. The freshness of the fruits on top of a cucumber boat is complemented by the rich cheese filling.

Choose from a wide variety of appetizers like ‘Onion or capsicum rings’, ‘Koliwada popcorn’, ‘Paneer 65’, ‘BBQ chicken and cheese quesadillas’, ‘Cajun fish and chips’, ‘Tangdi kebab’ and so on. The ‘Koliwada popcorn’, which comes in variants of mushroom and chicken, is quite addictive. You keep popping one after the other in your mouth and the delectable mix of crunchy exteriors and mushy interiors does not let you realise when you finish off the platter. The ‘Flame Grilled Chicken’ is grilled perfectly and is a yummy option for non vegetarians. The ‘Pav Bhaji Fondue’, despite a fancy name, is nothing more than pav cut into cubes and served with bhaji and melted cheese. However, the dish scores for the presentation. Nachos live up to their claim as eternal favourites with a topping of Mexican beans, tomato salsa, sour cream, cajun spice and more.

As the name itself suggests, ‘Mighty Small’ believes in might big portions and there is a real danger of you stuffing yourself with just the starters. Keep some space for the mains and spoil yourself silly with options ranging from assorted platters, pizzas, pastas, burgers, sandwiches and the eclectic ‘Potli biryanis’. The ‘Potli biryanis’, which come in variants of paneer, chicken and mutton, is a fragrantly flavourful biryani wrapped in ‘roomali roti’ and served with ‘dal makhani’ (which deserves a special shout out) and ‘raita’.

Stay true to the adage that ‘there is always room for dessert’ and try the plethora of options available there. The milkshakes are sinful stuff that taste amazing. Opt for the ‘Mint choco chip, triple choco brownie and crushed mint meringue’ for chocolate burst accompanied by the slightly strong twang of mint. Or you could always go for the deliciously sweet ‘Nutella, banana, peanut butter and pretzel’. Again, the glasses are by no means tiny; don’t say we didn’t warn you.

The place has plenty of options in alcoholic drinks and cocktails. For those who prefer something different, opt for interesting experiments with lemonade from their ‘Lemonade stall’ and explore orange, pomegranate and lemon grass infused options.
‘Mighty Small’ is located at the second floor of ‘Smaaash’, 1 MG Mall, MG Road.
