Woman cop harassed by BJP workers

Workers of the ruling BJP harassed a woman police official in Bulandshahr after cops there challaned the bike of a party leader.

The incident comes shortly after the public rebuke of a woman police officer by a senior BJP legislator that made her cry.

Reports said BJP workers on Friday misbehaved with Circle Officer (CO) Shreshtha Singh after the police challaned the vehicle of a BJP panchayat member Pramod Lodhi for not having proper documentation.

Hundreds of party workers led by local leaders surrounded the woman official and harassed her. They also reportedly got Pramod released from police custody inside the district court premises.

The incident became public after the video showing the altercation between BJP cadres and the woman cop went viral on social media. “You (BJP workers) are bringing a bad name to your party also... people will soon start saying that you guys are BJP's goonda,” the CO was heard as saying.

Shreshtha said the BJP workers engaged in a scuffle with an inspector after Pramod’s bike was challaned. A few weeks ago, a woman police officer Charu Nigam was seen wiping her tears after senior BJP leader and Gorakhpur MLA Radha Mohan Das Agarwal publicly rebuked her before district officials.

Agarwal justified his outburst later saying Charu used brute force against pregnant and old women protesting against illicit liquor sale to evict them from the middle of the road.
