Last Updated 24 June 2017, 20:35 IST

In a bid to enter the Guinness Book of World Records, Ahona Mukherjee, a Class X student designed the world’s smallest handmade chessboard measuring 0.9 mm X 0.9 mm at Rangoli Metro Art Centre on MG Road on Saturday.

The event was organised by DQ Labs, a coaching centre for design-based examinations.
The existing record is a chessboard measuring 18 mm X 18 mm, which was made by Malla Siva in Chhattisgarh. Ahona tried to break the record by designing the board using polymer clay. The height of the pawns ranged between 2.1 mm and 5 mm.

Ahona started working on miniature artifacts when she was in Class VIII.
“I have always had a fascination for creating this. I have also designed artifacts based on Bahubali, Avatar and food items,” said Ahona.

“Ahona is well versed with creative work. She has been doing a lot of such miniature artifacts. We thought she can try breaking the record,” said Shaun D’sa, founder, DQ Labs.
The result will be decided within three months.
