The Bagalur police have arrested a man who had sexually exploited and cheated 10 women.

The arrested is Sadhath Khan of Hassan. He had created a fake profile on matrimonial websites. He introduced himself as a government employee and a divorcee. Once women fell into his trap, he used to extort money from them promising a government job, said the police.

The police conducted a detailed investigation which revealed that Khan had cheated many women of lakhs of rupees. Several cases have been registered against him in KR Puram, Jayanagar and Vidyaranyapura police stations in Bengaluru city besides Hebbugodi, Doddaballapur and Dharwad police stations.

Khan has done his schooling in Hassan and studied ITI. He was a chronic alcoholic and was thus thrown out of his house by his father. He came to Bengaluru in 2011 and started working in a welding shop at Yeshwantpur. Later, he worked as a tele-caller at Koramangala, MG Road, and Hebbal. He was sacked at most of these places for misbehaving with his female colleagues. Later, he registered himself as a paid candidate on matrimonial websites and cheated many women. The police said they are investigating if he has cheated more women.

One of the victims, who was cheated by Khan, took the help of Universal Human Rights Organisation, a Bengaluru-based NGO. The NGO helped the victim lodge a case in the Bagalur police station and laid a trap to nab the suspect. As per the plan, Khan was called by the victim to meet her on the pretext of paying him money and to live together.
Khan agreed to meet her near Basaveshwara Circle. Once he came there, the victim approached him. After sometime, the police surrounded Khan and nabbed him, said Divakar, a member of Universal Human Rights Organisation.
