NGO to rehabilitate Bhagya
Following a report that appeared in Deccan Herald about the plight of Bhagya, a mentally challenged girl who was confined to an had been living like animal for the past few years, a Bangalore-based NGO has come forward to provide her with shelter as well as give her free treatment.
T K Puttaswamy of the Department of Woman and Child Welfare told Deccan Herald that members of RVM NGO situated on Bannerghatta Road took Bhagya along with them to get her treated at the FOSA Humanitarian Hospital. Besides, the NGO has also promised to make necessary arrangements for her future.
Tahsildhar N C Jagadish informed to the media about the the NGO’s promise to rehabilitate Bhagya. The permission of parents and the Department of Women and Welfare has been taken before sending the girl with the officials of the NGO.
A number of NGOs, the taluk administration and other departments have come forward to help Bhagya, a mentally challenged girl, who was made to live in a shack for the past five years, at Adagod village in Srirangapatna taluk.
