The civic body has retreated from its previous action after the high court took the officials to task for cancelling the building plan it had sanctioned some years ago.
In a press release, Ramachandra Ajjakana, secretary to Sri Samsthana, said the land was allotted to the mutt in 1978. The BBMP had issued Khata and collected property tax regularly. It had also sanctioned plan to construct a two-storey building and a Dharmashala.
Sanctioned plan cancelled
“Based on a 2015 letter from the BDA, the BBMP cancelled the sanctioned plan,” Ajjakana said. The mutt approached the high court against the cancellation of sanctioned plan. On June 28, the court took the BBMP to task for withdrawing the sanctioned plan. It directed the BBMP to restore the plan. Based on the direction, the BBMP on Monday withdrew the cancellation of the permission.
