Slew of measures to contain dengue: BBMP commissioner

Private hospitals in the city are now obligated to send a daily status report on dengue and chikungunya to the health wing of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

In the event of the detection of dengue and chikungunya cases, the Palike health officials will conduct tests and authenticate it. Private doctors can send the status report by SMS too. Palike officials will reach the locality where the dengue case has been detected and take necessary measures, such as fogging and spraying of chemicals to curb mosquito menace. Palike is also conducting a larval surveys in the localities where dengue patients were found.

Speaking to the reporters after launching the dengue awareness rally in the city, BBMP commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad, “So far, 1,981 cases of dengue and chikungunya have been detected in the city. The Palike has taken necessary steps to contain the disease.” A rally of schoolchildren was taken out to spread awareness about the causes and cure of the two vector-borne diseases. Prasad added that no dengue deaths have been reported in the city, this year.
