Police arrest two Rajput leaders in connection with Nagaur violence

In connection to the violence that erupted at the violence at Slain Gangster Anandpal Singh's village a day before he was cremated,  Rajasthan Police has begun making arrests. The police has arrested two Rajput leaders Durg Singh Chauhan and Mahipal Singh Makrana, considered as the key people on the charge of inciting violence in Nagaur.

In the violence, thousands of protestors indulged in beating police personnel, torching vehicles and vandalizing public property. Rajput outfits in Nagaur were at sit in dharna demanding CBI inquiry into the encounter of gangster Anandpal Singh.

At least 30 police personnel and 14 civilians were injured in the widespread clashes. One of the injured had succumbed. The protestors had uprooted the railway track and burnt houses meant for employees in the railway compound. The district administration had shut down internet services and Section 144 was imposed in the entire district.

However Rajput leaders said that unidentified “outsiders” spoiled the atmosphere during the condolence meet for Singh. Lokendra Singh Kalvi, founder-patron of Rajput Karni Sena, said that they will shortly announce a date for Jaipur protest which may be followed by a Rajasthan bandh. “Jaipur protest will likely be called on July 22. We will protest against the fake encounter in which he was killed",  Kalvi said.
