Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the state government is committed to protecting the welfare of citizens and with this view various programmes have been introduced for the benefit of people.

Addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone for Kanaka Bhavan here on Saturday, Siddaramaiah said that people are the masters in a democratic form of government and the government’s responsibility is to protect their welfare.

Principles adopted
“The government has adopted the principles of Basavanna, Buddha, Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi for the development of the state. The government has already released Rs 50 lakh for Kanaka Bhavan and another Rs 50 lakh will be sanctioned. Land for construction of community halls and educational institutions for all backward classes will also be sanctioned,” he said.

Loan waiver
The state government has waived Rs 8,165 crore loan of farmers. In Hassan district alone, of the Rs 490 crore loan amount, Rs 390 crore has been waived, he said. “BJP leaders should pressurise the Union government to waive farm loan advanced by nationalised banks,” he said.

District in-charge Minister A Manju, MLC H M Revanna and Karnataka Public Service Commission’s former chairman K Doddegowda were present.
