BU's PG courses to begin on August 11

Last Updated 22 July 2017, 19:58 IST

Students who want to pursue a postgraduate course from Bangalore University (BU) and affiliated colleges will have to wait a few more days for first semester classes to start as the date of reopening has been changed to August 11.

The colleges were supposed to open on August 7. This is the third time that the date of reopening of postgraduate courses has been postponed.

The delay in the reopening is because the university has extended the last date for submitting applications with penalty from July 21 to July 27.

According to the original schedule, the last date for submitting applications without fine was July 5 and with fine, July 11. Classes were scheduled to begin on August 2.

Now, the final merit list will be announced on July 31 and counselling will take place between August 1 and 10.

In-charge VC Prof M Muniraju said: “There were many students, especially from rural areas, in bachelor courses who had not cleared their language papers from semester II and IV. They repeated their exams and the results are expected to be announced within two days. Since we have time, we extended the dates so that these students can also apply.”
