A woman filed a police complaint on Saturday against Moodbidri MLA K Abhayachandra Jain and his driver for refusing to help her after his car hit her and accused him of rude behaviour.

Though the police filed an FIR against the MLA and his car driver, the MLA refuted the allegations that he behaved in an inhuman manner.

The MLA, who arrived at Mangaluru airport from Bengaluru was on his way to Moodbidri when the incident occurred. At 6 pm, while the car was making way for an oncoming vehicle, its mirror hit the woman at Kinnipadavu.

In her complaint, Jainaba alleged that the MLA’s car knocked her down, causing her injuries.
The complaint said, “The driver stopped the car. When I tried to get up by holding the door’s handle, the MLA pulled down the car’s windshield and pushed me and abused me. When I questioned his behaviour, he admonished me.”

Reacting to the allegation, Jain said, “It is true that the mirror of my car hit the woman. However, she was not injured. I asked the driver to stop the car and went to console her.
“I even apologised. However, she started abusing me. Upset over her behaviour, I left the place,” he said.
