NMPT authorities rescue ill Philipino

The New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) authorities on Sunday rescued a Filipino crew member on board the MT Kriti Sfakia after receiving a distress message for medical attention through their local agent.

A press release from Deputy Conservator i/c Capt Praveen Singh said that the distress message was received at 10.45 am from Master of MT Kriti Sfakia which was en route Iran from Singapore. According to the Master, there was a medical emergency for Julious Clivete, a Filipino crew member aged 45 years, who suffered from severe pain in the lower right side of the abdomen, suspected to be appendicitis.

The Master also informed that the ship would reach New Mangalore Port limit after 3 pm. The NMP authorities promptly responded to the distress call and arranged port pilot for medical evacuation inside the basin.

Clivete was successfully evacuated using port craft at 5.12 pm and was shifted to A J Hospital in Mangaluru through steamer agent Interocean Shipping Pvt Ltd, Mangaluru for treatment.
