Uber appoints Sanjay Gupta as Head of Marketing for India operations

At the time when the company is going through an internal turbulent phase, global ride-sharing app Uber has appointed Sanjay Gupta as the Head of Marketing for its India operations. Uber, known for its disruption and globalisation, through this appointment is reemphasizing the importance of focusing on its growth markets.

With over 15 years of experience in brand and consulting, Sanjay will focus on further strengthening brand Uber in India. Gupta, who has over 15 years of experience, comes from online furniture portal Urban Ladder, where he was the chief marketing officer. He also worked with Marico in the past, where he was responsible for the growth of its edible oils brand Saffola.

On his appointment as the Head of Marketing of Uber India, Gupta said he is excited to join the company at such an opportune time. “Uber is redefining urban mobility and has created a unique experience for riders and driver partners across the country. I’m looking forward to working with the super-talented team at Uber and take it to its next phase of growth in India,” said Gupta.

Uber India is going through a fierce competition with the local rival Ola. Also, India’s ride-sharing market is going through exponential growth with many new players are emerging to get the market share.
