Nithyananda petition: HC defers hearing

Last Updated 06 April 2010, 17:59 IST

The government counsel, while filing his objections to a petition by Swami Nithyananda seeking quashing of investigation, submitted that the latter had not disputed the identity of the person revealed in the video clippings.

Further submissions by the counsel stated that records available with BGS Apollo Hospital showed that a person named Azhagan staying at the Bidadi Ashram tried to commit suicide. The complainant was also under threat, which is why the complaint was filed in Chennai and not Bidadi.

Claiming that there was evidence of financial fraud, the counsel stated that it was premature to guess as the investigations were in a nascent stage. He argued that it was not a rarest of rare case to seek quashing.
