National workshop on solar and wind energy organised

Solar applications are expected to reach all households and industry in the near future, but the challenge is to increase its efficiency, said Chandra Mauli Kumar, additional general manager, Tata Power Solar, Bengaluru.

He was speaking after inaugurating a national workshop on solar and wind energy, organised by the department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering recently.

The workshop was held as part of diamond jubilee celebrations of Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal.

Single energy device

Dr Shashishekar Adiga, senior principal engineer, Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, Bengaluru,
explained how in future a single energy device will meet the energy requirements for various applications similar to mobile replacing other products like calculator, music devices, camera etc.

Dr G K Prabhu, pro vice chancellor (Technology and Management) of Manipal University, and director of MIT, said that Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) had already implemented solar power applications
at few major buildings of MIT.
