The 15-crore memorial of former President of India's Dr A P J Abdul Kalam in Tamil Nadu will be dedicated to the nation on Thursday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be arriving to Peykarambu in Rameswaram to inaugurate Kalam's memorial, which was constructed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

The memorial has been built near the tomb where Dr Kalam was laid to rest exactly two years ago on that date.

While a model of Agni-II missile which weighs four-tonne and is 45-feet in height has been set up in Kalam’s memorial,  a life-size seven-foot tall bronze statue of Kalam has been installed behind the memorial building.

Modi will also flag off ‘Kalam 2020 Science Vehicle’, a digital-based mobile museum, which was made by Dr A P J Abdul Kalam International Foundation.

The vehicle will showcase Kalam’s scientific achievements during his school days and while at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and DRDO.

Rare photos of Agni Missile and Pokhran-II nuclear bomb test will also be displayed in the vehicle.

Sources from Kalam's foundation said the vehicle will travel across the country and will reach the Rashtrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi on 15 October, the birthday of Kalam.

According to officials, the model of Agni-II missile which weighs four-tonne and is 45-feet in height has been set up in Kalam’s memorial.
