Demand to instal KC Reddy's statue at Soudha

Last Updated 26 July 2017, 20:12 IST

Family members of the late K C Reddy, first chief minister of the state, have requested Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to instal Reddy’s statue on the Vidhana Soudha premises, a demand they have been making since 2012.

Reddy, who was the first chief minister of the then Mysore state from 1947 to 1952, drew up the Vidhana Soudha’s blueprint and got the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to lay its foundation stone. Reddy’s granddaughter-in-law Vasantha Kavitha Shrikar, in a letter to Siddaramaiah, also requested that Reddy’s portrait be installed in the Legislative Assembly hall at the Vidhana Soudha and a corporation named after him.
