An employee of a video game parlour got into trouble with the Central Crime Branch sleuths, after brandishing a cigarette lighter, which resembled a pistol.

The man, has been identified as 32-year-old Dorgie, staff at The New Royal Tech Recreation Association, the video game parlour, on Residency Road.

Dorgie brandished the ‘pistol’ at the sleuths when the latter raided the video game parlour on Thursday evening. The sleuths, threatened by his act, fired in the air to prompt him to put down his fire-arm and surrender. In the melee, Dorgie created a ruckus and bit the hand of a CCB head constable in the scuffle, before he was overpowered.

It was only then the sleuths learnt that it was not a gun but a cigarette lighter. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Division Dr Chandragupta visited the spot and took stock of the situation.

The incident occurred on Thursday evening when the sleuths were tipped off that the video game parlour engaged in gambling. As the sleuths were in plainclothes, Dorgie did not realise that they were cops. Dorgie was taken to Ashok Nagar police station for further questioning. A case has been registered against Dorgie.
