2-day national conference in Manipal on August 5, 6

Manipal University, Manipal, will organise a two-day national conference on ‘Youth in Social Change’ at Dr TMA Pai Hall here on August 5 and 6.

Speaking to reporters, Manipal University registrar Dr Narayana Sabhahit said the Manipal University is socially responsible and has several programmes to create a positive change in the lives of the people who need care.

With that in mind, it has been decided to organise the conference to debate and discuss how the youth today can contribute to nation building.

He said that the conference would feature various youth icons, social entrepreneurs, corporates, non-governmental organisations.

“They will all be sharing their experience and expertise with the youths. About 800 students from 60 institutions from all over the country have registered for the event. Various innovative contests are part of the event,” Dr Sabhahit said.

Dr Anup Naha, the convenor of the conference, said the event was being held to encourage youths and students to contribute to community-building in all spheres. He added, “University has been celebrating Daan Utsav-The Joy of Giving Week (October 2-8), India’s festival of giving since 2009, to encourage students to be a catalyst for social change.”

Dr Anup also said that on the side-lines of the event, a Manipal Seva Mela will also be held to showcase the initiatives of various NGOs, social start-ups help colleges /corporates/ donors, recruit interns to make connects. A short film, with a concept of promoting the Joy of Giving, presentation of plans /ideas /programmes for better implementation of Swaccha Bharat and plans to involve Ten crore Indians during Daan Utsav would also be held during the conference.
