Energy Minister D K Shivakumar on Monday turned up before the income tax department in connection with the raids on his premises.
He arrived at the Income Tax office on Queen’s Road with D K Suresh, his brother and MP, and was questioned for about four hours.
Shivakumar later told reporters his auditors would submit all documents sought by the tax officials.
“They said they would call me for questioning if required... They have not instructed me to appear again,” he said. In a series of raids that made national headlines, officials searched several premises belonging to the Congress strongman and his associates in Bengaluru, Sathanur, Kanakapura, Mysuru and Delhi.
“This is not the first time. I have appeared before tax officials in the past,” Shivakumar said. The raids began on August 2 and concluded on August 5. Shivakumar’s confidants Dwarakanath and S Ravi, who is also an MLC, were among those questioned at the tax office on Monday.
300 officials, 66 locations
Between August 2 and 5, close to 300 officials swooped down on 66 places, including Shivakumar’s mansion in Bengaluru and apartment in Delhi.
They tracked him down to Eagleton Resort near Bidadi on Mysuru Road, where he was hosting Congress MLAs from Gujarat.
