High Court notice to BBMP chief

The high court  has ordered notices to the BBMP commissioner and the Additional Commissioners of Police (Traffic) in a PIL that sought its directions for removal of encroachments on the footpath near the Vijayanagar Metro station.
Desai D Hemesh Babu, a resident of Vijayanagar, has petitioned the court that vendors have occupied the footpath on the service road of Vijayanagar Main Road, inconveniencing pedestrians.

He urged the court to issue directions to the authorities concerned to provide enough parking space for Metro commuters near the Metro station and repair the footpath.

A division bench of Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice P S Dinesh Kumar ordered the notices and adjourned the hearing until after 10 days.

Land grab petitions

The high court on Monday directed a batch of petitioners to approach the special court formed under the Karnataka Land Grabbing Prohibition Act, 2011, with regard to reclaiming occupied government land.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice P S Dinesh Kumar ordered that the PILs be heard by the special court for land grab cases, and disposed of the matter.
