Tejashwi Yadav to kick-start 'Insult to mandate' yatra from Champaran tomorrow

Former Deputy Chief Minister and Lalu Prasad’s youngest son Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday will kick-start his ‘Janadesh Apmaan (Insult to mandate) yatra’ from Champaran. The Yatra will be aimed at informing the electorate how Nitish Kumar betrayed the huge mandate of 2015 Assembly elections.

The place and timing assume significance as it was Mahatma Gandhi, who launched his Satyagraha (agitation) against British’s oppression in 1917 from Champaran. The day is also significant as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of Gandhiji’s Quit India movement call given in 1942.

“The RJD has given a call for ‘BJP Bhagao, Desh Bachao’ (Remove BJP and Save India),” said Lalu, while seeing off his two sons, including elder Tej Pratap, who accompanied Tejashwi to Champaran on Tuesday.

“Today there is an undeclared Emergency in India. Everyone, including the media, feels threatened. The incidents in UP (where police officers are beaten up) and Haryana (where daughter of an IAS officer is stalked by State BJP chief’s son) are glaring examples of ‘Achche Din’. Those who talk of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ have not spoken one bit against the misdemeanour of BJP leader’s son against the Haryana daughter,” said Lalu at Rabri Devi’s residence.

The RJD chief regretted that he could not go to masses since he had been tied up with legal cases and had to appear in Ranchi court in connection with fodder scam cases.

He, however, lambasted Nitish for betraying the mandate. “This Paltu-Ram (a term used for those who take U-turn) was hand-in-glove with the BJP for the last six months.

Tejashwi was just an excuse to exit Grand Alliance. In fact, all the allegations levelled by Sushil Modi in the last few months were made at the behest of Nitish. Tejashwi, who accompanied Bihar CM in Champaran on a 7-km-long padyatra in April this year (as part of centenary celebration of Champaran Satyagrah), will visit Gandhi’s statue on August 9 and seek forgiveness for aligning with Nitish, a leader whom nobody is going to trust in future.

In fact, Nitish has committed political suicide. For the remaining period of his term, he will have to sing paeans to the man (Modi) whom he derided,” said Lalu reminding Nitish about his vow to make the country 'Sangh-mukht Bharat'.
