“The greatest reward for doing is the opportunity for doing more” believes Jonas Salk. And so, guys, if you’ve bravely forayed into terrain that’s traditionally been feminine, perhaps you do deserve a reward. Or so a renowned German luxury kitchen brand with an international presence thinks. For, its unique toy for the big boy – the modular kitchen – has recently arrived in Bangalore.

Though the classy, minimalist look imparted by the black, angular design is seductive, it’s the convenience of use that’s breathtaking. The various appliances – convection, microwave and steam ovens, induction cooktop, glass-top stove and automatic coffee and espresso machines – all are accommodated within aluminium frames of different sizes.  What’s innovative about the framework is its flexibility. For, positioning of cabinet frames can be customised to cater to individual tastes. Result? A spacious skeleton that’s also versatile. Plus, the no-nonsense, technical look, courtesy the choice of aluminium. Located within the frames, lights directly illuminate the worktop while diffusely brightening up the surroundings.

Besides aluminium, another material that makes its presence felt is glass. It adorns the front surfaces and completes the frames. Painted on the rear and presenting a satin/glossy finish, it adds to the elegance and subtlety. The worktops made of either satin-finished glass or black granite also contribute to the subdued grandeur. A black chrome finish faucet and a sink with an electronically-operated drain strive to lend more manly features to the kitchen.

For guys who find yanking handles to open cabinets irksome, the touch control mechanism is a boon. A mere touch suffices to open the doors and flaps gracefully. When nudged back, they slide extra-smoothly into place for the last inch to achieve that noiseless, closing movement. But, any blokes feeling the handle-free functioning’s too spooky and unsettling? No cause for despair. An aluminium pull-bar-fortified version is also available to serve you and your tribe.  The appliances too are operated by simply brushing the sensor keys. The touch-control coupled with user-friendly dialogue displays makes their use mere child’s play. Looking for additional attractions? Cheers! There’s a built-in-bar. And well... a dishwasher too.  Crinkling your nose at the thought of cleaning up? Fear not. The process of cleaning the cabinets and collecting the peels, skins, etc. to be disposed is ultra-simple.

Wish to dispel the monotony of a stint in the kitchen, guys? A high-tech audio-video system is at your service. It supports both analog and digital components. Connect the music/TV output of your choice. Prepared to shell out some more cash? Then, a home-theatre kit will also be thrown in. So, you can savour a football game or sway to your favourite music as you whip up your choicest delicacy.
