Several trees uprooted

Monday night’s rain has taken a toll on more than 31 different varieties of trees. While nine trees were uprooted near Sarovar Apartment in Sarakki alone, six trees fell in Indiranagar.

Apart from this, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has received calls from 45 different localities in Bengaluru regarding waterlogging.

While there have not been serious problems, some places have reported damage, officials said. A 15-feet-high wall collapsed at S Cariappa Road near Yediyur lake, damaging three cars and an autorickshaw. BBMP joint commissioner Dr Ashok inspected the place and ordered the local engineer to rebuild the wall immediately. While a compound wall at Lalbagh main gate was damaged due to a tree fall, the wall of HAL’s Helicopter division was reduced rubble.

Meanwhile, fallen trees affected traffic in Indiranagar. The forest wing of the civic body helped in easing traffic by clearing the fallen trees.

Four trees at Koramangala, two in Vignanapura, and one each in RT Nagar, Hebbal, JP Nagar, Nandidurg Road near Jayamahal, Kanakanapalya in Jayanagar, Isro Layout, Shantinagar, Shivajinagar, HBR Layout, Halasuru and Coles Park were uprooted.
