Last Updated 16 August 2017, 19:52 IST
She began her career as a model and went on to appear in advertisements and feature films. Actor Sana Khan made her debut in the Tamil movie industry with the film ‘Silambattam’. It has been an upward trajectory since then and she has been a regular in the industry with appearances in movies like ‘Bombay to Goa’, ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal’, ‘E’ and more. Sana was also a part of reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ and her recent release, ‘Wajah Tum Ho’, has garnered her a lot of appreciation.

In a chat with Surupasree Sarmmah, the actor talks about her journey in the film industry and more.

You started your career as a model. How did the shift to acting happen?

I think that’s what gradually happens when one comes to the entertainment industry. Actually, I wanted to get into the aviation sector but a lot of people encouraged me to take up modelling. I tried my luck in ads and people started noticing my work. I kept graduating from one thing to another.

You have acted in five languages. Is a new language ever a barrier?

I wouldn’t call it a barrier but it was a difficult task to accomplish. One cannot wake up in the morning and start talking and reacting in a language that you are not aware of.

However, keeping all this aside, it was a great learning experience — a mix of excitement, nervousness and stress. It felt good to challenge myself every day.

You have been a part of the ‘Bigg Boss’ house four times. Would you go back  again?

I think the fun part is always the first time when one is new to the environment
and you don’t know how things work. However, I would love to keep going to  the house as a guest or a visitor.

What’s keeping you busy these days?

I recently did the small cameo in ‘Toilet- ek prem katha’. There is also a dance-based music video coming out by the end of the month, which I will be announcing soon. So there are a lot of thing happening and I hope people keep appreciating my work.

How was it working in the movie ‘Toilet - ek prem katha’?

Akshay Kumar was the reason I said yes to the movie (laughs). It was a great experience to be a part of the movie. It always feels great when people approach you for a special appearance. I had a glamorous role in ‘Wajah Tum Ho’ and this was a complete shift after that yet it felt great. I believed in the cause and it felt good to be a part of it.

The last word you googled...

I was looking up crabapple.

A role you want to essay...

I want to do something in a period drama.

Five things we can find in your handbag...

Earplugs, perfume, wallet, lip balm and shades.

A celebrity you would like to swap your wardrobe with for a day?

I don’t mind going a little wilder and crazier, so I would pick Miley Cyrus’s wardrobe. I don‘t mind coming out like a lollipop (laughs).
