Bengaluru South comes to a halt

Traffic was paralysed in most parts of Bengaluru south on Wednesday owing to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's two public functions.

A large number of party workers and people headed to Bengaluru south for the launch of Indira Canteen and Congress public rally at Kanakanapalya and National College grounds.

Traffic slowed down around 9 am and the situation went out of control by 10 am. The police had made massive security arrangements for Rahul Gandhi along his route.

Buses and private vehicles were parked on both sides of roads contributing to the congestion.

According to the police, most roads and areas in Bengaluru south witnessed congestion till 2 pm.

The worst hit areas and roads were South End Circle, Basavanagudi, Chamarajpet, Town Hall, K R Circle, Hudson Circle, Kanakanapalya, Nrupatunga Road, R V Road, R V Teachers' College, Lal Bagh Road, J C Road, Gandhi Bazaar, Madhavan Park, T Mariyappa Road, Siddapura, Patalamma Gudi Road, Sajjan Rao Circle, Basappa Circle, Armugam Circle, Shankarpuram, Bull Temple Road and Vani Vilas Road.

 
The police had deployed additional force and manually controlled the traffic.
