Rajasthan govt recommends CBI probe into Robert Vadra land deals

Last Updated 22 August 2017, 14:00 IST

The Rajasthan government on Tuesday transferred Robert Vadra’s land deal cases to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The case was earlier being probed by the committee formed by the state government.

The government had earlier cancelled the mutation (transfer of land) of 374.44 hectares of land after the land department claimed to have found that the allotments were made in the names of "illegal private persons". The cancellation was done on the basis of a statement recorded by the tehsildar in which he said that the government land in 34 villages of Bikaner, to be used for expanding the army's firing range, was grabbed by the land mafia by preparing fabricated documents with the help of government employees. While cancelling the mutations, the state government said these were not issued by the Commissioner, Colonisation, Bikaner.

Reacting to this Congress President Sachin Pilot said, "We are ready for any sort of investigation. But at the same time, we want to know about the report state government constituted committee has submitted in this regard. It's a tactic of BJP to malign Vadra and Congress party ahead of the elections in the state.

In 2016 state police had filed charge sheets in 18 cases in a court in Kolayat last year. Enforcement Directorate (ED) had also suspected that huge amounts of money were laundered in this case by people buying land at cheap rates through forged documents.
