Looking forward to the big day

There’s a lot of buzz and excitement surrounding actor Priyamani and Mustufa Raj’s wedding on August 23, which will be followed by a grand reception the next day.

Though the couple want to restrict the wedding ceremony to a simple, private affair, the reception is slated to be attended by the who’s who of Bollywood as well as the film industries of all four southern languages.

The three-day wedding ceremony will begin with a sangeet ceremony at one of the city’s five-star hotels where the couple’s friends and families will gather for an evening of music and dance. “We will have a registered marriage on August 23 because I believe a wedding is a private affair between two families. We have always wanted a simple wedding and that’s exactly what we are going to do. The reception will be a grand one,” says Priyamani.

For the wedding, Priyamani will be wearing a sari chosen by her mother according to her birth star and for the reception, she will slip into a dress designed by Poornima Indrajith. “I have always wanted to break the mould of regular wedding wear,” she says.

Sharing his excitement just before the wedding, Mustufa says, “It’s a big day for both of us and I am excited because I am getting married to my best friend. Not many people are lucky enough to know the person that they are getting married to well in advance. But Priyamani and I have known each other for five years now and nothing can be more exciting than starting to live together.”

Priyamani too doesn’t feel that much will change after the wedding. “The only difference now is that we will start living together. I am looking forward to the big day,” she adds.

Priyamani and Mustufa confess that they have found in each other the perfect life partners. Priyamani says, “Mustufa has been extremely supportive and very encouraging.” Mustufa says he has always admired Priyamani for her honesty, straightforward ways and simplicity.

The couple have decided to first attend to their commitments at work before they take off on their honeymoon. Mustufa pitches in “We are both just as committed to our work as we are committed to each other.”
