<p>The CBSE has decided to keep in-service training of teachers as an important criteria while considering applications from schools to extend their affiliation.<br /><br />The Board has observed that the schools do not send their teachers for in-service trainings organized by government bodies. Most schools, indeed, fail to nominate teachers for capacity building programmes organized by the seven centres of excellence created for the purpose.<br /><br />“This means the schools are violating the affiliation bye-laws,” official sources told Deccan Herald, adding that the provisions of the bylaw ask schools to send their teachers for training programmes at least once a year in teacher training institutes recognized by the state or central government.<br /><br />The Board has set up seven ‘centres of excellence’ to provide “systematic” in-service training programmes.</p>
