Almatti nearing full reservoir level, TB dam, KRS receive good inflow

 The inflow to Almatti, Tungabhadra and Krishnaraja Sagar reservoirs has increased in the last two days following copious rain in Western Ghats of Karnataka and Maharashtra.

The Lal Bahadur Shastri reservoir at Almatti in Bagalkot district is inching towards full reservoir level (FRL) following huge inflow to Krishna river.

The reservoir had reached FRL (519.60 metres) on August 1. The water level at Almatti dipped after Krishna Jala Bhagya Nigama Ltd (KJBNL) released water to Narayanpur dam and to Krishna Command area.

The reservoir has now come alive following the incessant rain in its catchment. On Thursday alone, Almatti reservoir has received 35,224 cusecs (about 3 tmcft) while the outflow was 29,356 cusecs. The water level in Almatti, on Thursday, stood at 519.48 metres, only .12 metres short of reaching the full reservoir level.

The monsoon has returned to its full vigour in Western Ghats falling in Maharashtra. In the last 24 hours, Dudhganga has recored 8.4 cm, Radhanagari received 7.1 cm, Pathgaon 4.8 cm and Koyna 3.7 cm.

According to KJBNL, the inflow to Krishna river near Rajapur Barrage in Sangli, Maharashtra, was 48,250 cusecs.

TB dam crosses 65 tmcft-mark
Tungabhadra dam near Hosapete has received more than 4 tmcft in the last two days. The storage level in the dam stood at 65.282 tmcft on Thursday. It was 61.736 tmcft on Tuesday. The inflow to TB dam on Thursday was 20,524 cusecs while the outflow was 1,433 cusecs.

Good inflow to KRS, Kabini
Water level in Krishnaraja Sagar reservoir in Mandya district has increased by five feet in three days following good rain in Cauvery basin. The water level recorded at KRS on Thursday evening was 98.50 feet.

Speaking to DH, Cauvery Neeravari Nigam officials said as Kodagu is receiving copious rain, the dam may reach 100 feet mark by the next two days.

On Wednesday, the inflow was 27,680 cusecs and the water level stood at 95.80 feet. On Thursday, the water level increased to 98.50 feet.

The inflow to the Kabini dam has also increased. The water level as on August 31 was 2,275.5 feet as against the maximum level of 2,284 feet. The inflow was 12,000 cusecs and outflow 2,000 cusecs.

Heavy rain lashes Kodagu
Monsoon has gained its full vigour in Kodagu district. Heavy showers lashed parts of the district for one hour on Thursday. Madikeri, Talacauvery, Bhagamandala and Napoklu recorded heavy rain on Wednesday night and Thursday, causing grave inconvenience to the motorists.


The inflow to Harangi reservoir was recorded at 7,746 cusecs and outflow at 4,436 cusecs.
