The waterlogging menace returned to haunt the residents of Koramangala Fourth Block and Gottigere following the downpour on Thursday night.

As the city received a rainfall of 72 mm late on Thursday night many areas including Sarjapur Road, HSR Layout, J P Nagar, K R Circle suffered waterlogging, giving the residents a sleepless night yet again.

The residents of the affected areas had a tough time in saving the electronic and electrical gadgets and the furniture.

William Panakal, a resident of Koramangala 4th Block 5th Cross, said that he was fed up of cleaning his house every time it rains.

The rain has not only damaged his car but also the wooden floor and electrical equipment.

The story of Gottigere residents and other areas is no different as some of them took the help of fire engines and Palike vehicles to pump rainwater out of their houses.

Nikhil, a resident of Gunina Iris apartments in Gottiegere, said, “We are really sick of this (waterlogging). The civic body should find a solution.”

The residents of HSR Layout suffered a similar fate.

A small opening in stormwater drain on Tavarekere Main Road caused flooding in Koramangala Fourth Block. Rainwater mixed with sewage spilled into roads. The roads between Fifth Cross and 11th Cross were inundated.  The busy Sony Junction was also filled with rainwater.

Anthony Jayvanth, owner of Zillion Business Center, whose basement was completely flooded said that he has lost about Rs 13 lakh in a span of two weeks due to floodings.

Corporator of the area M Chandrappa, however, said that BBMP is erecting a wall to prevent the waterlogging. “It was kept open to remove the silt. It would not happen next time,” he said. But residents said that the corporator never turned up and no action has been taken.
