Step out in the trendiest colour of the season and make heads turn. After pastels ruling the runway for a while now, it is the ‘Millennial pink’ that everyone is going ga-ga about.

Though many are still debating over the name of the colour, fashionistas and designers around the world are embracing this new shade in the market with all their hearts.

“Though many are still confused between hot pink and ‘Millennial pink’, the latter is basically something between coral and hot pink and has a ‘peachish’ hue to it. This shade of pink is a rage now and it is a must-have in the wardrobe. And it is not just women but men too who are flaunting this colour in style,” says designer Abhishek Dutta.

He says mix and match works great with this. Colours like angel blue, grey and the classic ivory can turn out to be soothing combinations.

“One can wear this colour to both casual and formal occasions and looks great on Indian complexion. From maxi dresses and gowns to ‘lehengas’ this colour is perfect for both Indian and Western outfits. The key to looking good with this colour is not to overdo one’s look,” he adds.

Designer duo Pooja and Kavya feel that the ‘Millennial pink’ is perfect for the season. “Add a pop of colour to the gloomy day with this shade of pink and brighten up your mood instantly. It is not a loud colour and has its own subtleness. This is the reason for its popularity as a new colour in the fashion industry,” says Pooja.

She points out that because of its eye-catching feature, everybody can wear this shade throughout the day even when going for a jog. Contemporary accessories in ‘Millennial pink’ are a huge hit this year and people are experimenting with it. “From nail polish to dying the end of their hair this colour seems to be a favourite with many. Not just these, pink eye-shadow and lipsticks too are going to pick up soon,” adds Pooja.

Giving the example of international fashion shows like the London Fashion Week, designer Pragati Bhatia of ‘Rapra the label’ says that this colour had a strong presence on the international runways too.

“This colour is trending globally. Many designers at recent fashion shows are incorporating this stunning colour with other pastel colours. The best part of this hue is anything you make from this colour looks naturally classy.”

She opines that one can either dress up or dress down according to the occasion and look absolutely gorgeous.

“The versatile nature of ‘Millennial pink’ works great for men and women alike. And this trend is definitely not fading away for another coming year,” she sums up.
