Two people died on the spot after a concrete mixer lorry knocked down their motorcycle on National Highway 7 near Chandapura on Hosur Road on Tuesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Venkataramanappa (45) and Venkatappa (43), both from Ramasagara village in Anekal taluk.
A police officer said, “The victims, who were going to the market, were knocked down by a concrete mixer lorry near the Chandapura railway bridge. Their bodies were dragged for 200 metres. Both died on the spot. The Surya City police have registered a case and arrested the driver.”
The police said the highway is very narrow under the railway bridge and there is no service road. Locals had petitioned the authorities for a service road, but no action has been taken, they said.
