Brazilian legend Ronaldinho inspired Delhi Dragons to a 6-4 win over Kerala Cobras in their Premier Futsal tie at the Koramangala indoor stadium on Thursday.

In a game that saw the balance shift at brisk pace, it was the Delhi side that held their ground to record their third win of the competition to seal their place in the semifinals. The Dragons top the points table with 10 points while the Kerala outfit, yet to open their account, stay rooted to the bottom of the table and are out of the race for a place in the final four.

Ronaldinho was once again in his elements, teasing the defenders with his phenomenal ball control and court awareness. Though the Cobras went ahead due to an own goal by Rolon in the 11thminute, that didn’t affect the Dragons much as the former AC Milan star led his side’s recovery without much fuss. A Hamadaoi strike in the 12th minute brought the Dragons back on level terms while Hinrique Catarino capitalised on a Ronaldinho back-heel to net his first goal of the game in the 13th minute. He then powered in a thunder bolt from just outside the penalty area in the 14th minute to make it 3-1.

Having tried his best to find the back of the net, including an audacious bicycle kick, Ronaldinho was rewarded for his persistence in the 21st minute, the Brazilian nutmegging the Kerala ‘keeper Benwin Gama for his first goal.

Catarino added another one in the 26th minute while Ronaldinho ran past two defenders and flicked the ball over a charging goalkeeper.

Later, Telugu Tigers registered a 5-3 win over a Ryan Giggs’ led Mumbai Warriors 5-3.
