Goa Cong leaders asked to resolve Mahadayi dispute: Siddaramaiah

Last Updated 23 September 2017, 11:42 IST

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that the Congress Party leaders in Goa would be asked to co-operate with the efforts to resolve Mahadayi dispute out-of-the-tribunal, but Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has to take opposition parties there into conference to resolve the dispute through talks.

He told media persons at the airport here on Saturday that BJP leaders are trying to find errors with Congress, as they could not deal with the issue properly.

“Each State has different interest, and the chief minister has to take opposition parties into confidence. We will talk to Congress leaders in Goa, but who will speak to other opposition parties there,” Mr Siddaramaiah asked, reiterating the need for prime minister’s intervention to resolve the issue.

Notice to BSY not political vendetta

When asked about the police notice to State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa, Mr Siddaramaiah noted that police are working as per law, but BJP leaders term it as political vendetta if legal action is taken. Kidnap is not a small case, and some incidents related to the case took place at Mr Yeddyurappa’s residence itself. He was summoned for interrogation, as the law demands it, he said.

There is some progress in the investigation of Gauri Lankesh murder case, but that cannot be disclosed, he added.
