DC directs officials to act against illegal mining

 Deputy Commissioner B Ramu on Saturday, directed the officials concerned to take immediate action against illegal mining.

During a ‘phone-in-programme’ to address grievances, a few people alleged of rampant illegal mining in parts of the district. A caller informed that no official has taken action despite repeated complaints about illegal mining at Halepur village in the taluk.

One of the callers, Mahadevappa, alleged that a few people have encroached upon government lands at Jyotigowdanakoppal for illegal mining activities. So, the DC directed the officials to take immediate measures to curb illegal mining.

‘Vulgar music in pvt buses’

A few callers requested the DC to take measures against private bus crew for playing vulgar songs as it embarrasses women passengers. Another caller, Madhu of Hondarabalu, also urged Ramu to take measures to run KSRTC buses to the village. He said that no KSRTC bus operates between the village and Chamarajanagar and private bus operators exploit people.

Bahujan Samaj Party student wing secretary Srinivas also alleged that the bus crew play vulgar songs. The DC directed the Transport department officials to warn bus owners and also remove sound systems in such buses.

Appaji of P G Palya alleged that the public distribution system operators are charging high prices for ration such as rice, kerosene and foodgrains. But, the officials have failed to check the menace, he alleged.

A person alleged that police personnel are taking bribes from illegal sand transporters. Superintendent of Police Dharmender Kumar Meena and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) K Harish Kumar were present.
